US based provider of specialty printing and software applications, Zebra Technologies, is investing 10 million dollars in Singapore over the next 3 years.
It’s using the money for a large expansion of the distribution centre it currently has in Singapore.
Singapore is Nasdaq-listed Zebra Technologies’ headquarters in the Asia Pacific.
Opened earlier this year, the distribution centre is used by the firm to keep its inventory here, instead of shipping the products to regional clients from the US.
This has enabled the firm to more quickly meet the needs of its clients and to better customise its products.
Currently, Zebra Technologies has about 40 staff in Singapore and it is looking at what it described as a "significant increase" in terms of headcount.
CEO of the firm, Anders Gustafsson, elaborates.
"We’re looking at adding some more product development capabilities here, expanding our distribution centre and our regular headquarter sales and administrative staff, so it can be certainly in the 50% plus range"
Zebra Technologies says the Asia Pacific is its fastest growing business, with last year’s earnings growing by 35 percent.
Over the past 3 years, it also expanded its business in the region from 6 percent of its worldwide revenue to 11 percent of revenue as of last year. |
