US President Barack Obama will not specifically mention Tibet in his speech on Asia policy today
The US leader was set to deliver a major speech on Asia policy at Tokyo's Suntory Concert Hall, before heading to a regional summit in Singapore.
Aides said Mr Obama would assert Washington's role as an Asia Pacific power, despite China's rise
He also would touch on economic recovery hopes and global issues including energy, climate change, trade and nuclear proliferation.
The aides said Mr Obama would raise the issue of Tibet and human rights privately with President Hu Jiantao when he visits China tomorrow
