Police have found the body of the 6-year-old boy who had been reported missing on Monday.
At about 8.40 this morning, Police found his decomposed body stuffed into a bag along the river bank of the Kallang River near Block 44 Bendemeer Road.
Police say the boy had been reported missing by his 56-year-old grandmother.
She had revealed to the police that an acquaintance had taken the boy five days earlier and he had not returned home yet.
Following the report, police mounted an intensive island-wide search involving close to 70 officers to look for the acquaintance and the missing boy.
The acquaintance, a 31-year-old man, was arrested in a hotel at Westerhout Road early this morning after more than 36 hours of police operations.
The 31-year-old suspect will be charged in Court tomorrow with murder, which carries the death penalty on conviction.
