Singaporeans will only celebrate the Lunar New Year next month.
But the Singapore Mint is already pulling out all the stops to welcome the Year of the Tiger.
Its Director, Yip Pak Ling.
"We have the usual series of coins, we have them in copper nickel, we have them in sterling silver. The sterling silver range from 20 grams to up to five ounces. We also have the gold ones. For these, we have the one ounce, quarter ounce, half ounce ones. And of course, as usual we have the smallest gold coin which is 0.3 grams."
To celebrate the occasion, the Singapore Mint also kicked off today the Majestic Tiger Lunar Fair at Suntec City Mall.
This ten-day event will also feature an art exhibition by local artist, Tan Seng Yong who's well-known for his works depicting tigers.
Some 20,000 people are expected at the fair. |
