A level students from Raffles Institution and Hwa Chong Institution perform well, Hwa Chong tops nation in Sciences and Mathematics

Students who took the A Level examinations last year, performed slightly better than the previous cohort. 

About 87.9% passed in at least 3 H2 subjects and in General Paper or Knowledge and Inquiry. 

It was 87.7% in 2008. 

Hwa Chong institution saw over 50 students attaining at least 8 distinctions in the A level examinations.
 
The school's top student is 18 year old, Lee Jia Li, who's now one step closer to realising her dream of becoming a doctor. 

Jia Li got a perfect score of 9 distinctions. 

in the most unexpected one 

"The most unexpected one was English, GP, because for me, my English language has always been one of my worst subject,throughout the years, so I was not confident of that subject at all." 

Over 1,100 students took the A level examinations at Hwa Chong institution. 

And at least eight in 10 scored a distinction in H2 subjects like Physics and Biology. 

In fact, the school also topped the nation in Chemistry and Mathematics. 

Raffles institution also had a strong showing in the examinations. 

47 per cent of over 1200 students who sat for the examinations there, scored four H2 distinctions. 

The 2009 cohort of students was the first to go through the Integrated Programme (IP) from Secondary 1. 

Previous IP batches had started the programme in Secondary 3. 

Raffles Institution's top scorer is Pan Zixiang who scored distinctions in all his 9 subjects,including German and Higher Chinese.
