Another loss for Liverpool this morning, this time a 1-0 defeat at Lille in the last 16, first leg tie in the Europa League.

Fernando Torres forced a double save from Lille 'keeper Mickael Landreau in the first half but that was as good as it got for the Reds.

19-year-old Eden Hazard floated in long-range freekick with 6 minutes left, and it went straight into the far corner past Liverpool keeper Pepe Reina.

In Turin, Juventus defeated Fulham 3-1 while Ruud van Nistelrooy scored in his first start for Hamburg who beat Anderlecht, also 3-1.

Russian champions Rubin Kazan drew 1-1 with Wolfsburg, while Valencia and Werder Bremen also drew 1-1.

Wrapping up the scored, Standard Liege won 3-1 at Panathinaikos while Atletico Madrid and Sporting Lisbon fought out a goal-less draw.
