| Local fans to catch world's best squash players in action at shopping mall |

And for the 1st time in more than a decade, the world's best professional squash players will compete in a 4-sided glass court in a local shopping mall.
This year's CIMB Singapore Women's Masters will be held later this month and it'll feature 8 of the World's top 10 players.
For the past 3 years, the tournament was held at the Kallang Squash Centre.
But with the Squash Centre forming part of the tennis tournament venue for the coming YOG, the Singapore Squash Rackets
Association decided to invest in a $300,000 glass court.
And that will be set up at the Leisure Park shopping mall just opposite the Squash Centre.
The Republic last used a 4-sided glass court for the 1998 Singapore Open tournament for men at Bishan Junction 8.
Onto fencing news,
Singapore's Liane Wong has won the Women's Cadet Foil event at the Australian Championship in Sydney.
The 16-year-old tuned-up for next month's Youth Olympics by emerging top from a field of 50 fencers from Australia, New Zealand and Singapore.
And in the final, the CHIJ Toa Payoh student beat Australia's Sung Li-shan 11-4. |
